LO2: History of my chosen Channel & Its Ident (R)

LO2: History of my chosen Channel & Its Ident

I have decided to choose CBBC as the ident that i will recreate.

CBBC History:

CBBC is a british free-to-air public broadcast children's television channel that is owned and operated by the BBC. It is also used to brand all content that is made for children aged 6-12, its channel comes along with siblings an example of this would be the sister channel which is known to be Cbeebies. However Cbeebies is aimed at younger children below the age of 6. CBBC's logo stands for children's BBC channel and is used to entertain children and also teach them different activities and allow them to develop a new understanding of facts and knowledge.

Below has the Idents from 2016-2023:

From watching the first Ident that was created in 2016- we can see that CBBC uses a very bland colour only ident, this shows that CBBC was not very creative for the children with the Ident and logo that they had. However in the second ident that we can see CBBC has included real life children going to school all excited playing with a drone and then continued with the logo in the middle of the screen. The idents continue to include young children doing activities or playing with an object this allows the audience to understand that CBBC is aimed towards younger children.

During 1:21 throughout the combinations of idents we can see that CBBC have also included a bedtime ident for the younger children allowing them to understand that it is bedtime now. the ident still included the CBBC logo in the middle of the screen but allows the visuals to be clear , we can see this as a kid is reading a story duvet with a flashlight on his head. this connotes a clear representation of it being bedtime.

At 1:58 we can see the most recent Ident which is the child jumping on the trampoline and a burst of colourful powder which then adds colour to the CBBC logo, this is also a clear representation that the channel is a child friendly channel and is aimed towards young children. The quality of the present day ident are better quality and have more of a clear representation and allow the audience which would be younger children to also engage with the ident of wanting to have a trampoline.

One similarity that CBBC have kept is the update of their logo and how it kept the same throughout 2016-2023, however back in the days the logo was different and not colourful as it was a block of green and big block letters. The current logo that is used within the idents is more colourful and engaging and allows younger children to acknowledge that the channel that is upcoming is for them, just from the colour of the logo. Overall we can see that from 2016-2023 , the logo has stayed the same however the idents change throughout and become more of a representation of children allowing the audience to understand that the channel is a children friendly channel.
