LO2: Conventions of an ident (P2)

LO2: Conventions of an ident (P2)

An ident is a short sequence shown on television between programmes to identify the channel, it is also helpful as it announces all upcoming programmes and provides information. When identifying an ident it is usually seen on mainstream channels, the convention used would be the name of the channel. The idents purpose is to show what the channel is about and what it will represent, the only way that it can be shown is with the music that is featured within the background of the ident. This allows the audience identify what the channel is and what it is based on, previous adverts also show logos with the ident and this is another main convention. Idents usually occur with breaks in the middle of the programmes, this gives the audience time to have a break and then return back to the telly, ready to continue watching. In regard to my channel CBBC, I can say that the ident shows the logo of my channel midway of my ident an allows the audience to see a snippet of what is next coming up. The idents are produced to attract younger children. Sometimes ident help the audience connote what is going to come up next, in regards to my chosen channel I have chosen to do CBBC and I have use children friendly programmes.
